Recovery of doubtful claims
Recovery of doubtful claims concerns receivables whose economic recovery is uncertain. The German term Dubioseninkasso does not establish fraud by the debtor. It refers to uncertainty about payment, for example following unsuccessful attempts or signs of financial distress.
Distinguish the concepts
A doubtful receivable differs from a legally unfounded claim. A title does not establish available assets either. Older files require reliable records of payments, assignments, limitation and earlier measures. Renewed handling must not present an already settled amount as outstanding.
Jurisdiction and scope
In Austria and Germany, further action depends on the claim, time limits, procedure and financial circumstances. Accounting valuation follows separate rules. Decide independently whether pursuit remains possible, which measure is worthwhile and what carrying amount is appropriate. Illustrative business example
A business finds an old title in its archive. Before handover it gathers receipts, earlier settlements and current debtor information. It expressly includes an intervening settlement agreement. Only this complete record allows assessment of the remaining claim and whether further expense is proportionate.

Does doubtful mean fraudulent?
Here it concerns uncertain recovery, not a finding of criminal conduct.
Can an old title simply be submitted again?
Check its continued relevance, payments, time limits and enforcement conditions first. Age alone does not answer the question.
What decision should be documented?
Remaining legal balance, previous expense, expected benefit and responsibility for further action. Stopping work differs from waiving the claim.
