Court-fee calculator: Austrian and German payment orders

This calculator shows the ordinary court fee for a straightforward monetary claim. It does not calculate legal fees, collection remuneration or prospects of recovery. Choose the country of proceedings and enter the value in dispute; assumptions and limits accompany the result.

Engagement and acceptance are governed by the terms.

Calculate the court fee

Court fee for an ordinary application

One ordinary monetary claim, one claimant and one defendant. No reductions, exemptions, surcharges or special procedures. Supported value: EUR 0.01 to EUR 75,000.

Two examples with the same claim value

For a value of EUR 5,000, the ordinary Austrian tariff effective 1 August 2026 gives a flat fee of EUR 436. The half fee for a German payment order at the same value is EUR 85.25 under the current schedule. These are different procedures and fee models.

The examples exclude legal representation, transmission, later enforcement and special fee situations. Comparing these numbers does not determine which court has jurisdiction over your claim.

What is excluded?

Austrian mode uses the ordinary first-instance flat fee; German mode uses the payment-order application fee. Multiple parties, fee exemptions, reductions, employment disputes and other special cases are excluded. Contested proceedings or enforcement may incur additional costs.

The value in dispute is not necessarily the total of all amounts on a demand letter. Clarify the correct basis before applying. The binding assessment follows the specific procedure and applicable rules.

Initial payment and later reimbursement

Budget court fees separately. Under our terms they are initially borne by the client. Potential reimbursement from the other party is separate and does not mean money has actually been received.

Consider evidence, disputed issues and economic prospects alongside the fee. Keep the court’s cost statement and payment confirmation in the case file. Calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser and are not sent as an enquiry.
